Location:
Welwyn Garden City / Hybrid (2-3 days in office per week)
Hours:
37 hours per week Do you have a background within local government licensing, regulatory services, environmental health, community safety, or a similar public sector setting. Knowledge of the Licensing Act 2003, taxi licensing, gambling legislation, and committee processes would be highly advantageous . Join the Public Realm Department as a Licensing Officer, where you will deliver a professional and effective licensing service, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
This role is crucial in maintaining public safety and regulatory standards through diligent administration, inspections, and enforcement activities. Day-to-day of the role:
Administer and process applications across various licensing regimes, including Taxi Licensing and Licensing Act matters. Provide expert advice and guidance on licensing legislation, policies, and procedures. Investigate complaints and undertake inspections. Perform enforcement duties. Prepare reports, witness statements, and supporting documentation for licensing hearings, committees, appeals, and legal proceedings. Liaise with internal departments, partner agencies, and external organisations. Maintain accurate records, case files, and database information.
Monitor compliance with licence conditions. Required Skills &
Qualifications:
Ability to conduct investigations and enforcement activities in accordance with PACE , relevant legislation, and Council procedures. Comprehensive knowledge of licensing legislation , particularly Taxi Licensing and the Licensing Act 2003. Experience working within a local authority licensing environment, including investigating complaints and undertaking enforcement activities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
