About Perthyn

Perthyn is a values-led organisation committed to supporting people with learning disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives. We believe in person-centred support that empowers individuals to make choices, take positive risks, and thrive in their homes and communities. Our values – Integrity, Empowerment, Innovation, Accountability, Inclusivity, Belonging, Accomplishment, and Resilience, guide everything we do.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Complex Support Worker to join our dedicated team in Swansea. This supported living home is home to three people we support (two males and one female), each with highly individual and complex needs. Some individuals require continuous support due to limited mobility and clinical health requirements, including PEG feeding, BGT care, and sheath care, while others may display behaviours that challenge and require proactive, positive behaviour support strategies.

This vacancy has arisen as we welcome a new person into the home, a young woman with autism and behaviours that challenge, who has lived with her parents all her life and is moving into supported living for the first time. She will require 2:1 support and a highly person‑centred approach to help her settle, build confidence, and thrive in her new environment.

Your role will involve much more than meeting basic needs. You will work closely with family members and a wide range of healthcare professionals to ensure every aspect of support is safe, personalised, and empowering. You will help the people we support to make choices, develop skills, and engage in meaningful activities that enrich their lives. This is a dynamic and rewarding position where you will make a real difference every day.

What

You’ll Be Doing
  • Providing person-centred support to people with complex health and behavioural needs
  • Supporting individuals with daily living skills, personal care, and clinical requirements
  • Working collaboratively with families and healthcare professionals
  • Promoting independence and positive risk‑taking
  • Supporting people to engage in meaningful activities and community life
  • Maintaining accurate records and adhering to health and safety standards
What We Need from You
  • Experience supporting people with complex needs, including clinical health requirements and behaviours that challenge
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team
  • Commitment to person‑centred values and promoting independence
  • Willingness to undertake training in Positive Behaviour Support and clinical procedures
  • Flexibility to work on a rota basis and travel within the area
Your Rewards
  • Competitive Salary – with a generous sleep‑in allowance to boost your earnings
  • Maximise Your Income – earn up to £3,000 extra per year with one sleep‑in shift per week, or £6,000 for two sleep‑ins
  • Overtime Opportunities – for example, one extra shift a week could add around £5,000 annually
  • Comprehensive Training – person-centred and tailored to help you thrive in your role
  • Career Development – including support to achieve your QCF Level 2 qualification
  • Fully Funded DBS/Update Check – we cover the cost so you can focus on your journey
  • Professional Registration – We cover the cost of your registration with Social Care Wales.
  • Employee Wellbeing Programmes – because your health and happiness matter
