Senior Residential Support Worker - Children's Residential Care
Location:
Blaenau Gwent
Salary: £37,000 per annum
Hours:
2 on / 4 off shift pattern
Contract:
Full-time, permanent
We are looking for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join a 4‑bedded children's residential home supporting three young people with primarily emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
This role is ideal for someone confident leading shifts, acting as a positive role model, and ensuring the home runs safely, smoothly and in line with care/pathway plans.
About the Role
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will contribute to the day‑to‑day running of the home and support young people to achieve positive outcomes.
Responsibilities include:
Providing care in line with the home's Statement of Purpose and individual care/pathway plans
Delivering day‑to‑day support including meal preparation, supervision of activities, household tasks and promoting the ethos of the home
Taking on key worker responsibilities, maintaining detailed records, and liaising with families and professionals
Leading shifts, allocating tasks, and ensuring staff understand responsibilities and expectations
Supporting new staff through mentoring and helping maintain a positive working environment
Ensuring all care is delivered in line with legislation, policies and internal procedures
Assisting with meetings, supervision, training needs, and contributing to continuous improvement within the home
What We're Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Level 3 QCF/NVQ in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People)
Experience supporting young people in a residential children's setting, ideally with EBD needs
Experience leading shifts or delegating tasks within a team
A full UK driving licence
Strong communication skills and the ability to act as a positive role model
Reliability, professionalism and excellent attention to detail
A resilient, adaptable approach with a commitment to safeguarding
