We have an opportunity for the role of Assistant Practice Manager based in Meddygfa Minafon, one of 6 Health Board Managed Practices.
We are seeking an organised, proactive Assistant Practice Manager to support the smooth running of our busy GP practice. Working closely with the Practice Manager and wider multidisciplinary team, you will help ensure the delivery of safe, efficient and patient-centred services in line with NHS Wales standards.
You will oversee day-to-day administrative operations, support staff coordination, maintain high-quality patient access, and contribute to practice governance, compliance and service improvement activity. The role also involves supporting digital systems, workforce planning, and responding to operational issues as they arise.
This is a key leadership role for someone with excellent communication skills, strong organisational abilities, and a commitment to the NHS Wales values of compassion, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Main duties of the jobIn this role, you will support the day-to-day management of the practice, ensuring smooth and efficient administrative operations. Key duties include supervising administrative and reception teams, coordinating admin and clinical staffing rotas and workload, maintaining high standards of patient access and communication, and supporting compliance with NHS Wales policies and governance requirements. You will assist with managing performance data, supporting digital systems, contributing to service improvement projects, and helping resolve operational challenges as they arise.
The postholder will also deputise for the Practice Manager when required, providing leadership and continuity to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge- Diploma Level Qualification or equivalent experience - CPD
- Knowledge of legislative requirements
- Thorough understanding of a range of PC software e.g. Microsoft Office, Email, Intranet
- Understanding of clinical systems - Vision/EMIS
- Demonstrable experience of supporting, supervising and managing staff
- Demonstrable experience of organising and co-ordinating a range of complex plans simultaneously
- Experience of working within an NHS environment
- Advanced level or standard level of IT skills
- Experience of working within a primary care environment
- An understanding of quality improvement
