Social Care Personal Assistant during school

Please note this is not a Swansea city council job. You will be working with a private client who received direct payments.

A little about myself: I am a 14-year-old girl living in Swansea, I live with my mum and my younger brother. I have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and I am experiencing challenges with my mental health. When in the community, I can become withdrawn and anxious if I am overwhelmed. I enjoy activities that help me stay regulated, such as going for drives.

I also like visiting Starbucks and Boots. I also enjoy watching horror films. I am kind, funny and witty; it will take me a while to warm up to you, so I need patience first.

Hours of work: 4 hours per week and 6 hours per week during school holidays

Rate of pay: £13.13

• Have a good understanding of neurodivergence, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is important when supporting me.
• Understand that I can become overwhelmed in public places.
• Have the ability to recognise triggers for anxiety and respond in a sensitive way.
• Understand my sensory needs and how the environment can impact my wellbeing.
• Have strong relationship building skills, if I need extra reassurance and stability.
• Have the ability to support emotional regulation and help me feel safe and understood.
• Have knowledge of coping strategies and grounding techniques to help support me if/when I become distressed
• Have an understanding of the importance of consistency and provides support with kindness and respect

• Accessing the community and visit places that match my interests.

A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
