White Reinstatement Operative

About The Role

Balfour Beatty Power T&D is seeking a General Operative (CIJC) to join our team! The reporting depot will be Swansea, covering Swansea and Bridgend as part of the NGED MTC Framework. You will assist in the reinstatement works as Part of a Mason team (White top Reinstatement) operative working on LV & HV Cable Systems in the highway, Private land and substations.

This role requires a strong commitment to safety and quality, working under the direction of the Area Supervisor and Project Manager. Training offered with opportunities for career growth.

• Assist with the work involved in Reinstatement of trenches/surfaces for LV and HV cable systems and associated works to the highest standards.
• Ensure compliance with Balfour Beatty and National Grid standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Adhere to all health & safety regulations and best practices.
• Work effectively as part of a team to deliver high-quality results.
• To assist in the White top reinstatement of HV Cable Systems, Works include, Reinstatement of slabs, kerb edgings, Concrete patches, Brick setts. Located in Town centre, Highway, private land.
• To ensure personal safety, safety of other personnel and members of the public at all times.
• Work within the guidelines of the Company Safety Policy, Quality and Security procedures.
• Set personal examples in all Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
• Report all accidents, dangerous occurrences and near miss incidents to his/her superior.
• Ensure all personal protective equipment is clean, serviceable and worn as required.
• Ensure all carriageway and footway excavations are correctly signed guided and lit.
• Report and do not operate any unsafe plant, equipment or vehicles.
• Maintaining personal cleanliness and hygiene.
• Immediately inform a senior person of any hazard that places personnel or public at risk.
• Only authorised persons use plant and equipment.
• Cleanliness / Security of all vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe site.
• To ensure that all work is carried out to meet Quality requirements.

• Direct team members and supervisors.
• Third party providers including Sub Contractors.
• National Grid.
• External customers.
• Members of the Public.

• Experience in reinstatement works including laying slabs, Kerbs, Brick setts, Concrete patches.
• Experience in working with manual handling/ physical environment.
• General knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• Experience in using hand tools correctly.
• Ability to follow functional instructions in English language both spoken and written; carrying them out reliably and efficiently.
• Experience of working in a team environment.
• Flexible approach to activities on site.

• Experience of cabling.
• Valid U.K Clean Driving Licence.
• Construction Experience.
• Excavator and Dumper Qualifications.
• Streetworks (NRSWA).
