Salary:
£33,954 per annum, rising to £35,761 after successful completion of a 6-month probation period
Shift Pattern:
4-week Continental Shift Pattern or 12-hour shifts over a rotating 2-week cycle
We are seeking an experienced Flexographic Printer to join our production team. This is a hands-on role operating high-speed wide web printing presses, delivering high-quality output while maintaining excellent safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
You will be responsible for setting up, running, and optimising print machinery, ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate print machinery safely and efficiently, maintaining optimum performance at all times
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, hygiene, and housekeeping standards
, including immediate logging and cleaning of any spills - Deliver work in line with production schedules, proactively monitoring and controlling print quality
- Conduct regular print inspections, troubleshoot faults, and resolve quality issues promptly
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including BRC, ISO, and A2 Permit requirements
- Identify non-conformities, correct deficiencies, and escalate issues to the Shift Manager when required
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and SMED
- Complete all production paperwork and electronic records accurately and on time
- Carry out effective shift handovers to ensure smooth transitions and minimal downtime
- Optimise press changeovers and running speeds to minimise waste and maximise efficiency
- Work closely with the Ink Technician to optimise colour matching times
- Collaborate with Print Support, Engineering, and Production teams to maintain production standards
- Assist in training and mentoring Print Assistants and colleagues
- Demonstrate flexibility to support other production areas when required
- Fully trained Flexographic Printer (Print NVQ Level 2 or 3 preferred)
- Extensive flexographic print experience, particularly with solvent-based inks and wide web presses
- Experience operating Fischer Krecke 126S, 20
SIX CS, or BOBST presses is highly desirable - Strong background in label or packaging printing
- Experience supervising or supporting colleagues on press
- Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English & Maths or equivalent preferred)
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma principles advantageous
- Additional qualifications such as first aid or fire safety are beneficial but not essential
