The Role

The Warehouse Lead Operative will be responsible for overseeing the daily workload, training and developing a small team of operators, and ensuring the control of materials out of the warehouse into production and back into the warehouse as built assemblies, maintaining the highest accuracy and preventing line stoppages by proactively ensuring the accuracy of issued and returned materials at the end of production runs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Confirm materials from the Warehouse and ensure the correct kit is picked before the team fills the production line.
  • Check parts and quantities match the desired production output for each Production Order.
  • Ensure the production line maintains appropriate stock levels to prevent over and under inventory.
  • Accurately record movement and location of materials on the stock system.
  • Undertake required checks on material handling equipment, identifying and reporting any maintenance/repair needs.
  • Complete all required records, including traceability records.
  • Ensure the team achieves the highest standards of housekeeping (3's/5's).
  • Follow waste management procedures.
  • Contribute to identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvement (safety, quality, output, cost/efficiency).
  • Carry out other tasks that support the warehouse, assembly and packing operations.
  • Manage a small team of Decant operators to ensure they achieve the desired quality and output to meet production demand.
  • Report operation anomalies to the WH team leader and identify resource gaps (absence reporting, holiday gaps).
Required Experience / Skills
  • Use portable scanner terminals for maintaining accurate stock records.
  • Interpret production output data to move stock in accordance with production and dispatch requirements.
  • Engage and lead a team to achieve the highest possible output standards.
  • Have previous experience in a similar materials role.
  • Have previous leadership experience.
Required Education / Qualifications / Training
  • General secondary or vocational qualifications (e.g., GCSEs, BTEC Certificate) including Maths & English.
