Maintain and improve manufacturing and packaging equipment so production runs safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. You'll combine hands-on engineering with problem solving, supporting both machinery uptime and wider manufacturing improvements across the site.
The role
As a Mechanical Engineer (FMCG Packaging), you'll install, maintain, and optimise production and packaging equipment to support safe and efficient output. The role exists to maintain plant, equipment, and buildings for optimum economic performance while meeting company, legal, and customer requirements. You'll also collaborate with production to develop work aids and jigs that increase throughput and reduce non-conformance.
What you'll be doing
Installing, maintaining, and setting up production and packaging equipment for each run.
Making sure all equipment is safe to use and is being used safely at all times.
Cleaning equipment and work areas after work is completed so lines are ready for the next set-up.
Maintaining plant, machinery, buildings, and engineering records to support reliable, compliant performance.
Working with production to develop work aids, jigs, and improved methods of manufacture.
Investigating causes of non-conformance, suggesting preventative measures, and supporting ongoing production improvements.
What we're looking for
GCSE (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science.
Time-served engineering apprenticeship (NVQ or above).
City & Guilds 18th Edition Electrical qualification.
City & Guilds PAT testing certificate.
Competence across electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines with computer literacy for record keeping.
Experience with process, manufacturing, or packaging equipment for consumer goods.
Flexible, quality-focused team player with a positive, self-motivated, reliable, and courteous approach.
You can expect a practical, varied engineering role where your work directly supports safe, reliable production in a packaging environment.
Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age
