NPD Technologist
Bakery | Product Innovation | Food Manufacturing
Are you passionate about bakery innovation and bringing new products to life? We're looking for a New Product Development Technologist to join a growing food manufacturing business, helping develop exciting bakery products from concept through to commercial launch. Based on a bakery-focused manufacturing site, you'll play a key role in creating products for retail, food service, and QSR customers across breads, rolls, pastries, cakes, sweet bakery, and frozen products.
The Role
You'll support the end-to-end NPD process, working closely with commercial, technical, production, procurement, and supply chain teams to turn customer briefs into commercially successful products.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and launch innovative bakery products from concept to market.
Run product development projects, factory trials, and scale-up activities.
Reformulate existing products to improve quality, cost, nutrition, and manufacturing efficiency.
Interpret customer briefs and market trends to create commercially viable products.
Benchmark competitor products and identify innovation opportunities.
Ensure products meet food safety, legislative, allergen, and customer requirements.
Collaborate with operations, quality, business development, and suppliers to deliver successful launches.
About You
Degree qualified in Food Science, Food Technology, Bakery Technology, or a related discipline.
Experience with in NPD, Product Development, or Process Development in food manufacturing.
Strong understanding of bakery ingredients, processes, and manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of HACCP, allergens, food safety, and food legislation.
Passionate about food innovation with excellent organisational and communication skills.
Able to manage multiple projects and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
