This role will be hosted by EYST but is part of a wider project led by Codi

This role needs to be delivered in person.

Travel across Swansea region will be required for this role.

This role is funded through the Green Careers Pathway programme, which supports young people to access employment in the green sector.

To be eligible for this opportunity, applicants must be aged 18-30 at the time of appointment, in line with programme funding requirements. We particularly encourage applications from young people who identify as having a disability or long-term health condition and/or those from globally diverse backgrounds, as these groups are currently underrepresented in the sector.

All appointments will be made on merit and in line with equal opportunities and relevant employment legislation.

An Enhanced DBS will be required for this role.

Evidence of permission to work will be required.

Project Overview

EYST is excited to Join Codi on their Green Careers Pathway Project. Trainee Green Careers Project Support Officer will be part of the Green Careers Pathway team but will be based in EYST.

The Trainee Green Careers Project Support Officer will support the delivery of the Green Careers project and support their peers and fellow Green Careers Participants (aged 16-30) in Swansea to overcome barriers, build confidence, and gain essential skills for careers focused on sustainability, climate resilience, and environmental restoration.

This position will support the delivery of our existing employment support through developing employability and green skills that align with the growing green economy and contribute to reducing carbon emissions, restoring nature, and promoting climate adaptation.

This role requires a proactive individual who is motivated to learn, be supportive and Team oriented, inclusive approach to empower young people, enhance their employability, and enable them to contribute to a more sustainable future. The role will support EYST agenda to become more efficient and knowledgeable in Green systems and improve our environmental impact.

Aims of the Post
  • Support the delivery of Green Careers activities and participant engagement, particularly those from underrepresented groups
  • Learn alongside qualified Employment Coaches through observation, supported practice and supervision.
  • Assist with workshops, group sessions and participant engagement activities.
  • Help participants access opportunities, training and employment through practical support.
  • Develop knowledge of employment coaching, green careers and inclusive practice.
  • Support EYST to build its knowledge and understanding of green careers and sustainability.
  • Principal Accountabilities and Main Duties

  • Support Career Exploration and Skill Development
  • Contribute to the Green Careers Youth Board through monthly online and quarterly in-person meetings and supporting the youth-led Green Careers campaign , ensuring young people's voices help shape the project
  • Support Work Experiences and Placements
  • Support the delivery of In-Work Support and Career Progression
  • Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Green Careers
  • To support and attend in regular network meeting for partners
  • To ensure that the project promotes and reflects equality of opportunity at all levels.
  • To ensure that EYST Safeguarding, Data Protection, Equal Opportunities and all other relevant policies are implemented.
