Following a recent internal promotion, we are looking for a passionate Assistant Shop Manager to support our Cromer town-centre shop during a maternity cover period — an exciting opportunity to help drive the shop’s success, inspire staff and volunteers, and ensure every donated item makes an impact.

About the role

If you have retail experience, enjoy supporting and motivating a small team, and want to make a tangible difference in your local community, this role could be ideal for you. Our Cromer shop thrives thanks to the generosity of donors, the loyalty of our customers, and the dedication of our staff and volunteers.

As Assistant Shop Manager, you’ll work closely with the Shop Manager to create a welcoming, well‑organised and successful shop. You’ll help coordinate day‑to‑day operations, support and develop volunteers, maximise sales opportunities, and ensure excellent customer service at all times. You’ll also step up to lead the shop in the Manager’s absence, helping to maintain standards and keep everything running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Taking the lead in the day‑to‑day running and ongoing development of the shop when deputising for the Shop Manager.
  • Maximising the value of donated items by overseeing effective sorting, eye‑catching displays, and regular stock rotation.
  • Supporting the Shop Manager to meet income targets, while driving high retail standards through strong leadership and team motivation.
  • Assisting with the recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing support of staff and volunteers – helping everyone to thrive.
  • Actively encouraging local donations to keep the shop well‑stocked with quality items.
  • Helping to coordinate furniture collections and deliveries to ensure a smooth customer experience.
