Position: Scheme Support Officer - Young People

Summary

Two permanent, part-time (18hrs & 24hrs) Scheme Support Officer roles at our Young Persons accommodation service in Moriston, Swansea. Both positions are based on a four‑week rolling rota. The 18‑hour role involves working two days per week; the 24‑hour role includes day shifts and sleep‑in duties, with an additional £62.64 paid per sleep‑in.

About

The Role

Swansea Young Persons service provides temporary accommodation to young people aged 16‑24 experiencing homelessness. The service delivers intensive housing‑related support to individuals ready to gain independence and a tenancy of their own.

Duties Include
  • Empower individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to live independently.
  • Address complex behaviours and needs, including alcohol misuse, mental health issues, substance misuse, and offending behaviour.
  • Work with a wide range of personalities and behaviours, including individuals who may be resistant to support.
  • Adapt your approach to effectively engage with a diverse clientele.
  • Undertake lone working, requiring strong communication skills, resilience, and confidence to work on your own initiative.

  • A passion to work with and enable people to live as independently a life as possible.
  • An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people’s lives.
  • A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player.
  • Ability to deal with conflicting and difficult situations.
