Job Description & How to Apply Below

This is an exciting opportunity for social workers who are passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people, and who are adaptable and thrive on taking on new challenges.

A peripatetic social worker plays a crucial role in child and family services by providing flexible and responsive support, moving into vacancies wherever they are needed most, based on the current demands of the service. This dynamic approach helps to maintain stability and consistency in the care and support provided to children and families, ensuring that we are always able to provide the highest standards of social work support.

Peripatetic social workers are adaptable with a broad, transferable skill set, to assist in maintaining good quality social work practice across our wide range of services in Child and Family.

You may be required to spend periods of time in any of our dedicated teams, for example Single Point of Contact, The Academy, Intergrated Safeguarding Hub (ISH), Supported Care Planning, Child Disability Team, Looked After Children’s Team, Foster Wales Swansea, Fostering and Kinship, Residential Services, BAYS, Youth Justice Service, CMET or the Learning and Innovation team.

In Swansea, we remain committed to using the Signs of Safety model of practice, embedded over the past 15 years. An innovative service, we are proud to have been awarded the 2024 Social Care Wales ‘Building Bright Futures for Children and Families’ accolade in SCP, and that our CMET team is hailed as sector leading.

Excellent benefits, including:
  • Low caseloads (SCP average of 13 cases with a realistic ambition to reduce to an average of 10)
  • Competitive salary
  • Regular Wellbeing opportunities
  • Monthly rewards and recognition draw
  • Seaside office space
  • Hybrid / flexible working to achieve a work life balance
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
