Responsibilities
  • Operate welding equipment safely, adhering to all safety protocols and wearing required protective gear, including heat-resistant gloves, flame-resistant clothing, protective masks, and safety-toed footwear.
  • Review work orders, gather necessary tools and materials, and plan work procedures based on provided instructions and specifications.
  • Assess equipment, materials, and job specifications to determine appropriate welding positions and methods.
  • Perform MIG welding on steel components for truck beds, ensuring welds meet both functional and aesthetic standards.
  • Maintain welding fixtures, tooling, and equipment in proper working order.
  • Visually inspect weld quality and use inspection equipment to confirm compliance with part specifications.
  • Keep work area and equipment organized and clean.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production and quality goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production needs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with MIG welding, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of welding tools, their use, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to pass a welder qualification test, including a manual welding test judged on functionality and aesthetics.
  • Understanding of MIG welding for carbon and stainless-steel products.
  • Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations, including working with fractions and decimals.
  • Demonstrated compliance with safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work well in a team setting.
  • Consistent attendance record.
  • Preferred:
    At least 2 years of welding experience and ability to read and interpret work orders.
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, and bend continuously throughout the shift, and to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
