Position: Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC)

Job Overview: Deliver packages and mail along rural routes on Saturdays, Sundays, and observed holidays, using a vehicle and adhering to USPS route descriptions and safety protocols.

Schedule: Saturday, Sunday and holidays observed by USPS on an as-needed basis. Training on weekdays during onboarding. Hours vary.

Salary: $20.38 per hour, paid bi-weekly.

Requirements: Valid state driver’s license, safe driving record, at least two years of unsupervised driving of passenger or larger vehicles in the U.S., meeting medical suitability, general eligibility, and background check requirements. Applicant must be able to provide a personal vehicle suitable for use or may be required to be on call for vehicle provision. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather and lift up to 70 pounds.

• Loads packages and mail in vehicle in delivery sequence.
• Delivers packages and mail to customers along prescribed route.
• Sorts mail in delivery sequence for assigned route.
• Receives and signs for accountable mail.
• Collects mail from customer roadside boxes, gathers receipts, and returns undeliverable mail.
• Furnishes routine information concerning postal matters to customers.
• Prepares appropriate time records and provides mail security at all times.
• May be required to provide a vehicle if employer-provided vehicle is not assigned; receives Equipment Maintenance Allowance (EMA) if own vehicle is used.
• Loads and unloads trays and containers of mail and parcels weighing up to 70 pounds.
