Position: Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) Technician

Our Georgia-Pacific Gypsum facility located in Sweetwater, TX is in search of an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) Technician to support operations. These positions are primarily focused on managing day to day Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) activity to meet production needs. The selected candidate will collaborate with the AGV Administrator as well as Manufacturing Engineers and Reliability Coordinators. The ideal candidates will have solid interpersonal skills that will allow the transfer of knowledge to Automated Systems Technicians on the four rotating crews.

What You Will Do
  • Complete regularly scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM's) per the AGV Platform requirements.
  • Provide corrective maintenance - including Root Cause Analysis.
  • Utilize tools and data in accordance with predictive maintenance activities.
  • Use precision tools: i.e. micrometers, laser alignment tools, sensor alignment tools, and tools alike in routine activities.
  • Utilize a multi-meter.
  • Execute Asset Strategies and provide feedback to AGV Platform.
  • Track issues/repairs and utilize escalation process via MP2 or other similar maintenance computerized systems.
  • Utilize computer software and skills in daily activities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team in a fast-pace setting.
  • Provide technical service across multiple locations.
  • Effectively provide feedback/training to Operator Technicians as needed.
  • Communicate and work collaboratively with strong oral and written communication skills to various audiences as this role will require communication to all levels of the organization (i.e., via reports, e‑mail, verbally, and/or in small/large group settings) in a team environment.
  • Continuous learning of specific skills required to maintain and operate AGV's and supporting automation equipment.
  • Work in an industrial environment which at times is hot, humid, cold, and noisy. The AGV Technician may be required to lift up to 50 pounds routinely and stand for extended periods of time. Bending, twisting, and stretching are attributes of the role. The position requires wearing personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses, ear plugs, and hard hat to name a few).
Who

You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience applying PLC knowledge & troubleshooting.
  • Experience applying basic electrical and mechanical principles to maintain motors, drivers, belts, and bearings.
  • Experience in operations and equipment maintenance or manufacturing engineer in an industrial, manufacturing or military environment.
  • Experience reading mechanical prints and schematics.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience with maintenance and/or operation of Automated Guided Vehicles
  • Experience with photo eye sensors, proximity sensors, and encoders
  • Experience with electrical safe work practices - NFPA 70‑E Electrical Safety Standards
  • 2‑year degree or higher with an Electronic or Mechanical Technology focus OR (5) five or more years of electrical/mechanical maintenance or troubleshooting experience
