Examinations Officer – Secondary School – Swindon

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

A successful secondary school in Swindon is looking to appoint an experienced and highly organised Examinations Officer to lead the planning and delivery of all internal and external examinations. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who enjoys working in a structured environment, has exceptional organisational skills and can confidently manage examination processes with accuracy and professionalism.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the school's examination cycle, ensuring compliance with awarding body regulations while providing excellent support to students, invigilators and teaching staff. Working closely with senior leaders, curriculum departments and external examination boards, you will play an essential role in ensuring examinations are delivered efficiently and fairly.

This role requires someone who is meticulous, calm under pressure and committed to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and confidentiality.

Examinations Team

The examinations function is a vital part of the school's operations, ensuring assessments are conducted efficiently and in accordance with all regulations. As Examinations Officer, you will oversee the full examination process from initial entries through to results days.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all GCSE and A-Level examination entries.

  • Liaising with examination boards and awarding organisations.

  • Producing examination timetables for students and staff.

  • Recruiting, training and coordinating examination invigilators.

  • Organising examination rooms and ensuring appropriate resources are available.

  • Processing access arrangements in collaboration with the SEND team.

  • Maintaining accurate examination records and candidate data.

  • Ensuring compliance with JCQ and awarding body regulations.

  • Managing results days and post-results services.

  • Supporting internal assessment and mock examination processes.

  • Responding to examination-related enquiries from students, parents and staff.

  • Reviewing examination procedures to ensure continuous improvement.

Requirements
  • Previous experience as an Examinations Officer or within school administration is desirable.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and school management systems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
