Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected planning consultancy in their search for a Senior Town Planner to join their team in Swindon.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Town Planner to join a growing and dynamic consultancy, working across a diverse portfolio of projects including residential, commercial, and mixed‑use developments. The successful candidate will take a leading role in project delivery while benefiting from strong client exposure within a supportive and collaborative environment.

As a Senior Town Planner, you will lead on planning projects from initial appraisal through to submission and determination.

You will manage your own schemes, take ownership of client relationships, and support junior team members, continuing to develop your career as a Senior Town Planner within a professional and forward‑thinking team.

• Leading and managing planning applications and appeals
• Preparing and reviewing high‑quality planning reports and supporting documentation
• Undertaking site appraisals and feasibility assessments
• Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact
• Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and key stakeholders
• Attending client meetings, site visits, and consultations
• Supporting and mentoring junior team members
• Contributing to business development and networking activities

• RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
• MRTPI qualified (Chartered) – essential
• Circa 5+ years’ experience within a planning consultancy environment
• Strong understanding of the UK planning system
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and client‑facing skills
• Proven ability to manage projects and deadlines
• A proactive and commercially aware approach
