Why You Should Join
As a Quality and Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the Wire & Cable value stream to ensure all products meet company standards and relevant industry specifications. Your role will involve designing, implementing, and refining quality control systems, as well as developing and documenting analytical methods to evaluate the reliability of products and their components. Additionally, you will mentor and support our current Wire & Cable Apprentice, guiding their growth and development within the quality function.
YourMain Tasks Customer Quality & Performance
- Integrate Voice of the Customer (VOC) and Extraordinary Customer Experience (ECE) into operations.
- Lead Value Stream activities for Notices of Escape (NOE), escalations, and customer improvement programs.
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific quality requirements.
- Monitor customer complaint metrics and 8D report quality.
- Share customer expectations across TE sites.
- Support Swindon site with training and reviews.
- Manage customer negotiations on deviations and concessions.
- Lead collaborative complaint resolution using 8D methodology.
- Ensure timely and effective 8D submissions via TE systems.
- Maintain alignment of quality policies with standards.
- Drive process improvements to reduce scrap and boost efficiency.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Ensure closure of non-conformances and improvements.
- Provide quality support for NPI and change management activities.
- Promote Zero Defect culture using Lean tools (TEOA, PFMEA, APQP, etc.).
- Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Report site‑specific quality KPIs.
- Deliver mandatory and tailored quality training.
- Work with IQEs and SDEs to resolve supplier quality issues.
- Ideally holds a degree or HNC in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Quality Assurance. Alternatively, has relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within aerospace, military, or automotive sectors, in a Quality or Engineering role.
- Preferably familiar with Wire & Cable production processes, including material extrusion.
- Technically minded with a practical, hands‑on approach. Able to interpret a wide range of technical drawings and specifications.
- Experienced in quality planning and the application of tools such as Histograms, Pareto analysis, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Control Plans.
- Skilled in 8D methodology and associated tools including 3x‑Why, Is/Is Not analysis, and Ishikawa (fishbone) diagrams.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 or AS9100 (preferred), or IATF 16949. Experienced in process compliance and conducting quality system audits.
- Familiar with product and process validation through established systems such as First Article Inspection (FAI), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
- Highly organized, self‑motivated, and capable of managing multiple tasks. Adapts well to changing priorities and delivers results in a timely manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrate flexibility in working hours, including extended schedules when required and be available for travel to customers, Interco, or supplier locations as needed (estimated).
