Retail Store Manager (12-Month Maternity Cover contract)
Ready to take the next step in your retail career?
Whether you are an experienced Store Manager or an ambitious Assistant Manager ready to lead your own store, this is an opportunity to do retail differently.
At Prospect Hospice, you will have the freedom to make decisions that really matter. From merchandising and pricing to leading your team and building relationships in the local community, you will have genuine autonomy to shape a successful store, all with the support of an experienced retail team behind you.
We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Retail Store Manager to lead our West Swindon store on a 12-month fixed term contract (maternity cover). You will create a welcoming destination for customers, volunteers and supporters while generating vital income that helps local patients and families receive expert hospice care when they need it most.

Hours:

37.5 hours per week (5 days, Monday to Sunday, including weekends and Bank Holidays)
What is the role?
This is an exciting opportunity to join our retail team, leading an established and successful store while making a meaningful difference to the lives of local patients and their families.
You will be responsible for the overall success of the shop, ensuring it delivers an excellent customer experience while achieving ambitious income targets. Working closely with volunteers, supporters and the wider retail team, you'll:
Lead the day-to-day operation of the store
Drive sales, profitability and Gift Aid income
Recruit, develop and support volunteers and your Assistant Store Manager
Create an attractive, well-merchandised shopping environment
Manage stock, cash handling and store compliance
Build strong relationships within the local community to encourage donations and support
Who we're looking for
You'll be a confident retail manager or assistant manager who enjoys working with people and delivering results. You don't need charity retail experience. If you've successfully led a retail team and are passionate about delivering great customer service, we'll give you the support you need to succeed.
We're particularly interested in someone who:
Has proven experience in a retail supervisory role in either commercial or charity retail
Demonstrates strong leadership skills with a positive, people-focused approach
Can motivate, coach and develop a team
Is commercially aware and customer-focused
Enjoys building relationships and engaging with the community
Is organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities
Holds a full UK driving licence and is willing to support other shops when required
This is an active role involving regular lifting and moving of stock and extended periods on your feet. Manual handling training will be provided. We welcome applications from all candidates and will consider reasonable adjustments where possible; however, the essential duties require the ability to carry out ongoing physical activity.

Generous contributory pension scheme and life assurance
Discounts with local retailers, gyms and service providers, including a Blue Light Discount Card
Employee Assistance Programme and dedicated wellbeing support
Comprehensive induction, training and development opportunities
A values-led, inclusive working environment
