Instructional Technology Specialist

For Whom/What Responsible:
Provide "visionary leadership" connecting technology to instruction and learning. Assist in the coordination of the district's Technology Plan. Develop and coordinate a district-wide program of technology-related staff development. Coordinate staff development/consultation programs which provide for the instructional needs of individual teachers on a daily basis. Keep the district knowledgeable of current local, state, and national instructional technology initiatives. Assistance in previewing and selecting software and other technology support materials.
Locate and obtain sources of funding for technology and instructional innovation, and coordinate funded grant programs. Assist teachers in seeking grants for technology and instructional innovation. Help teachers and students integrate technology into the curriculum to achieve learning objectives. Assess and select technology tools, maintain infrastructure, and troubleshoot classroom-related technology problems.
Degree:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree with a valid Missouri teaching certificate required.
Master’s degree preferred in Instructional Technology, Library Media Sciences, or Curriculum Instruction.
Preferred ExperienceFive years of successful classroom teaching, with extensive knowledge of instructional technology applications as well as instructional pedagogy, national and state reform efforts, and learning theory. Experience with staff development and conducting teacher training preferred.
Primary ResponsibilitiesTo coordinate all aspects of integration of technology into instruction, including staff development and assistance, keeping the district knowledgeable about current initiatives in instruction and technology, and obtaining grant funding for technology and instructional innovation.
Personnel- Assist in the implementation of the district's long-range Technology Plan.
- Assist faculty in the integration of technology applications into the curriculum.
- Provide consultation for teachers to assist with technological applications, problems, and concerns on a daily basis.
- Assist teachers in developing curriculum materials and lesson plans that facilitate the implementation of the school technology plan.
- Assist faculty in obtaining grant funding for technology applications and instructional innovation.
- Supervise or collaborate with district staff to ensure that the purchase and installation of hardware and software for instructional purposes are completed, and that teachers using the items have the opportunity for assistance.

- Consult with curriculum committees and instructional coaches to ensure technology applications are effectively integrated into all programs.
- Serve as a professional resource person for building and district curriculum development needs.
- Participate in instructional technology conferences and workshops, and share knowledge of local, state, and national instructional technology initiatives with faculty by means of demonstrations, the technology committee, and printed materials.
- Advise the Professional Development Committee as to general technology-related staff development needs and opportunities.
- Plan and/or conduct a variety of instructional technology-related staff development activities for faculty and staff as needed.
- Plan and conduct programs for assisting teachers in preparing grant proposals technology and instructional innovations.
- Advise the district of financial incentives, price breaks, and grant opportunities associated with the purchase of technology and related materials.
- Coordinate the application for technology-related grants, both on the district level and building or teacher level.
This position is a 209 day contract. Compensation is according to the teacher salary schedule as established annually by the Board of Education. All other employee benefits are according to the total FTE of employment for the individual.
