Qualifications
  • Illinois Professional Educator License valid for Grades 1-8 with mathematics endorsement, registered in Lake County.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Mathematics.
  • Successful teaching or student teaching experience in middle school mathematics.
Description

Provides interventions and support to students with the core academic program.

Essential Performance Responsibilities
  • Has command of the subject matter and effectively implements the Woodland District 50 curriculum including Response to Intervention (RtI) and Common Core State Standards.
  • Uses a variety of instructional techniques and differentiates instruction to meet the individual needs and interests of the students.
  • Adheres to the guidelines outlined in the Woodland School District 50 Staff Handbook.
  • Contributes to a positive school climate through the support of the district's Strategic Plan and Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) program.
  • Orders materials and supplies as per district procedures, with appropriate authorization and within budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborates with staff and paraprofessionals to meet the needs of students with special needs.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in locations and at the times assigned.
  • Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property; keeps supplies in good working condition, is responsible for all materials as well as manages repair of equipment.
  • Adheres to all school and district policies and procedures, including maintaining confidentiality.
  • Collaborates as needed with appropriate school personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions.
  • Uses a variety of avenues to communicate regularly with parents and school personnel regarding students' levels and rates of progress.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct in alignment with the Parent/Student Handbook and PBIS in order to provide for a safe, orderly productive environment.
  • Creates a classroom environment and research‑based program of study that are conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity interests of the learners.
  • Conducts student assessments to identify those eligible for intervention services, to plan instruction and/or to assist staff members in learning various assessment techniques.
  • Reviews data to determine student academic needs in the area of math.
  • Utilizes the Response to Intervention (RtI) model to review and monitor student data and progress with mathematical computation and concepts.
  • Maintains appropriate records of student attendance, projects, and grades.
  • Posts grades to district‑approve student information system/grade book.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports to school personnel and parents/guardians as required.
  • Performs other such duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the School Principal or Assistant Principal.

  • Professional Responsibility – Reflects on teaching, maintains accurate records, communicates professionally, contributes to the school and district, grows and develops professionally, and shows professionalism.
