Moffat County School District is looking for a motivated, caring and enthusiastic person to fill the Extended School Year Special Education Paraprofessional position. The ESY Special Education Paraprofessional will assist the ESY Special Education Teacher and Summer School Teachers in helping students learn and/or stay safe. The Extended School Year Special Education Paraprofessional will report to the ESY Special Education Teacher, Executive Director of Special Education and Summer School Teachers as needed.

Minimum of 49 College Semester Hr. preferred.

• Assist in teaching students how to become independent and responsible at school
• Assist with specialized needs that may include behavior, learning, self-help skills and/or communication
• Assures that students learn at their own level and have their specialized needs met
• Collect or gather data
• Run as directed, small learning groups
• Prepare or set up activities and materials for the next rotation, period or day, help students with self-care tasks
• Monitor students during class, transitions, lunch or breaks
• Providing instructional support individually or in small groups
• Providing one-on-one instruction
• Meet with teachers
• Provide accommodations for students to have access to classroom instruction
• Other duties as assigned

Student(s) as assigned and needed by ESY Special Education Teacher and Summer School Teachers.

• Language:
  Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small groups situation to students, staff, parents and administrators.
• Mathematical:
  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Reasoning:
  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Other:
  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to run; stoop and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs. The employee must occasionally push items of 75lbs. or more, such as pushing children on a bike or moving/rearranging furniture. Specific vision abilities required by this include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. These employees spend most of their coaching time inside. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and is a standard acceptable level for this environment.
