Residential Assistant Houseparent

Start dates:
August 2026 or January 2027. Candidates should indicate preferred start date in their motivation letter.

Only EU, Swiss citizen or those possessing a Swiss B Permit can be considered.

Job Purpose

This live‑in residential position requires the post holder to safeguard, support and ensure the safety of students in partnership with the Houseparent and House team.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • General residential support.
  • Act as tutor for a small group of students, providing guidance in academic and pastoral areas.
  • Support teaching or coaching staff in areas such as drama, music, sport, expeditions or other specialist interests.
  • Assist the Houseparent in promoting welfare and security of students and the smooth running of the House.
  • Work as part of the wider House team and perform residential and administrative duties.
  • Weekday supervision and night duty as required.
  • Weekend duties approximately 2 out of 3 weekends, with some tutor support over the weekend.
  • Study supervision.
  • Assist with the co‑curricular programme.
  • Attend training and support meetings.
  • Maintain medicine cabinet and medical records, administer prescribed medication on time.
  • Any other duties reasonably required by the School.
Working Week

Residential Assistant Houseparents work 4 afternoons and 2 evenings per week, with 2 weekends every 3 weeks. One weekday off per week. Example routine: 11:55‑12:05 handover; 11:55‑17:00 on duty; 16:15‑21:30 tutor & RAHP or HP; 21:30‑23:00 RAHP or HP; 23:00‑07:00 overnight call.

Additional Requirements
  • Undertake any other task reasonably required by the Deputy School Director to assist in the smooth running of the team.
  • Understand and implement all school policies, especially safeguarding and prudence codes.
  • Understand and uphold the School’s Guiding Principles and ethos at all times.
