Zug Institute for Blockchain Research at the University of Lucerne", a (70–100%, open rank)
As the successful candidate, you will play an active role in building the interdisciplinary Zug Institute for Blockchain Research. Located in the canton of Zug, the institute is planned to comprise a total of nine professorships from four different faculties of the University of Lucerne. The professorships will address the societal, political, legal, economic and health‑related implications of blockchain technology. The aim is to establish a globally unique institute for blockchain research in the human sciences in terms of its breadth and diversity.

The holder of the professorship (m/f/d) will be responsible for the field of ?
Health and Blockchain. The professorship will focus on researching the application of blockchain technologies in healthcare, with an emphasis on building trust, societal acceptance and sustainable and efficient provision of care. Possible areas of focus include:
- the use of blockchain for electronic patient data and patient‑centered care (particularly data security, interoperability and practical value)
- improving efficiency in the healthcare system (for example through optimized processes, error reduction and smart contracts)
- further development of financing and reimbursement systems through automation, cost reduction and incentive design
- promoting transparency and quality in healthcare while considering societal, legal and economic frameworks
- Represent the field sustainably and visibly in research.
- Teach in the faculty's degree programs as well as other interdisciplinary study offerings.
- Maintain an outstanding research record, including national and international publications, third‑party funding acquired to date, awards and other distinctions.
- Contribute to national and international debates on ?
Health and Blockchain. - Foster a positive working environment and support students and academic staff at all levels.
- A completed doctorate in a relevant field is required. For a full professorship, habilitation or equivalent achievements are additionally required.
- Part‑time professorships are possible.
- Excellent social skills, ability to work in a team, high motivation to promote equal opportunities and a strong willingness to engage in academic self‑governance.
- Open to interfaculty collaboration in teaching and research.
- German language skills at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, or willingness to acquire within a reasonable period.
