Manager Production Development

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop the production organization across the Baden and Untersiggenthal sites. You will drive technical and organizational initiatives on and around the shopfloor and ensure that new products, processes, and systems are successfully transferred into production. Acting at the interface between Production, Engineering, R&D, Maintenance, and Test Engineering, you will bring together different requirements and translate them into practical, robust solutions.

A key focus of the role is the further development and optimization of existing battery and converter production systems, including a new, modern battery production line that is already in operation. At the same time, you will take responsibility for additional projects such as the introduction of new processes and systems and production transfers. In addition, you will support the further development of the production organization, including the transition from single shift to multi shift operations.

This role is contributing to Traction Operations in Baden and Untersiggenthal. Main stakeholders are ABB Energy Storage Systems, Converter Production, Production, Engineering, R&D, Maintenance, and Test Engineering.

The main responsibilities include
  • Identifying, prioritizing, and implementing improvement opportunities in production processes, equipment, and workflows while ensuring adherence to timeline, quality, cost, and safety requirements
  • Planning, managing, and supporting industrialization and implementation projects, including product introductions, process changes, system implementations, and production transfers
  • Supporting Production during ramp up, stabilization, and further development of processes and equipment
  • Evaluating new process technologies and manufacturing concepts to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency, while defining and supporting testing activities, acceptance criteria, and supplier solutions

Qualifications for the role
  • Several years of experience in Production Engineering, industrialization, or technical project management in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Strong project management capabilities and the ability to structure and lead complex technical initiatives involving multiple stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of production processes, manufacturing systems, and industrial operations, ideally in semi automated or automated environments
  • Experience in introducing new products and processes into production as well as optimizing existing production lines and manufacturing systems
  • Strong analytical and structured way of working combined with a solution oriented mindset and a collaborative hands on approach
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable technical field
  • You are at ease communicating in German. You can also work effectively in English in an international environment
