The IT infrastructure and Cloud Architect at Solvias AG is a strategic role responsible for designing, reviewing, evolving, and governing the company’s enterprise-wide IT Infrastructure and Cloud architecture. Kindly note, that this role is limited to a 2 years contract. This role ensures that the infrastructure and cloud platforms and technology solutions align with business objectives, security standards, and regulatory requirements.
By providing architectural leadership and oversight, the IT Infrastructure and Cloud Architect must drive operational excellence, infrastructure reliability, and technological innovation across the organization. Their work must ensure that systems are scalable, secure, and resilient.
- Architectural Leadership:
Lead the design and evolution of enterprise IT Infrastructure and Cloud architecture, ensuring scalability, security, and alignment with business strategy - Technology
Roadmap:
Develop and maintain technology roadmaps, standards, and patterns for Infrastructure, Cloud platforms, and business applications integrations - Solution Design:
Oversee solution architecture for complex initiatives, integrating hardware, software, data integrations and cloud platforms - Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to define requirements and translate them into technical solutions - Security Architecture:
Build “secure by design” systems and ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 27001 standards and other regulatory requirements - Innovation & Evaluation:
Assess emerging technologies and industry trends and recommend adoption to enhance business capabilities and efficiency - Documentation & Governance:
Create and maintain architectural documentation, CMDB, blueprints, and governance models for compliance and future reference - Operational Excellence:
Ensure robust infrastructure design, including backup, restore, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions, minimizing downtime and ensuring business continuity - Collaboration:
Work closely with internal teams, including Infrastructure, Cybersecurity and Lab IT, to identify infrastructure requirements and implement technical solutions - Continuous Improvement:
Monitor system performance and security, proactively recommending enhancements and responding quickly to incidents
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred), or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 10 years of hands‑on infrastructure and cloud platforms engineering or architecture experience
- Strong expertise with Microsoft technologies (Azure, Office 365, Teams, SharePoint, Active Directory)
- Proven experience in backup, restore, and disaster recovery implementation and management
- Demonstrated experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V), cloud solutions (Azure, AWS), storage, and networking
- Proficient with automation, scripting, and configuration tools such as Power Shell, Terraform, and Ansible
- Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) and API management
- Experience in regulated industries (pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences) is a strong advantage
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, ISO/IEC 27001) and security best practices
- Strong business acumen and ability to align technology solutions with business objectives
- Strategic vision and ability to drive long‑term technology roadmap
- Solid influencing and management skills to guide stakeholders and teams toward architectural standards
- Skilled in managing organizational change and driving adoption of new technologies
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, especially for complex systems
- Effective communicator, capable of clear and concise documentation and interaction
- Collaborative approach, able to work effectively within cross‑functional teams
- Commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with evolving technologies
- Willingness to mentor IT colleagues and promote knowledge sharing
- Adaptability and comfort working in fast‑paced, evolving environments
