Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license - Preferred

Current CPR certification - Minimum of two years nursing experience
- Experience working with students with multiple handicaps
- Clerical and computer experience
The LPN assists with students' daily routine health care, medications, treatments, episodic and first aid care and manages the school's Health Services Office, under the supervision of the Licensed School Nurse (LSN). They will provide more individualized and potentially complex medical cares to student(s). Includes supporting student(s) in classroom settings, monitoring medical needs as well as educational supports as directed by teacher/case manager.
ESSENTIALDUTIES
- Manage site Health Services Office
- Maintain confidentiality in all areas related to students
- Report students with repeated symptoms/problems/incidents of communicable disease to LSN
- Assist the LSN in obtaining required verification of immunizations
- Maintain continual communication with LSN regarding health office occurrences or changes to student health information
- Accurately complete/maintain a variety of records, including services to students with IEPs
- Assist with routine assessments, refer all findings to the LSN
- Attend required district, building, or nursing meetings and trainings
- Will provide more individualized and potentially complex medical care to student(s)
- Handle written/verbal communications with parents and ISD
742 staff in a professional manner - Dispense medication and provide treatment as prescribed, this may include suctioning, tube feeding, checking blood pressure, catheterization, auscultation, and otoscopic exams
- Provide first aid as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions
- Light Work: exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
