Job Title: Maintenance
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Location: Bland County Public Schools
Reports To: Facilities Manager and Supervisor of Division Operations

Bland County Public Schools is seeking a dependable Maintenance person with a primary focus on lawn care and grounds maintenance. This position is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and attractive school grounds throughout the growing season and assisting with general maintenance duties during the winter months.

• Mow lawns on school property using push mowers, riding mowers, and zero-turn equipment
• Trim, edge, and weed eat around sidewalks, curbs, buildings, fences, and landscaped areas
• Mulch flower beds, trees, and landscaped areas
• Remove weeds from landscaped areas and hard surfaces
• Perform seasonal grounds cleanup, including leaf removal and debris collection
• Assist with planting, pruning, and maintaining shrubs and ornamental plants
• Safely operate, maintain, and store lawn care and grounds equipment
• Monitor school grounds for safety hazards and report concerns to supervisors

• Assist with general building and facility maintenance
• Support snow and ice removal from sidewalks, entrances, and parking areas
• Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks
• Assist maintenance staff with projects and repairs as assigned

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior experience in lawn care, grounds keeping, or maintenance preferred
• Working knowledge of lawn care equipment and tools
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to perform physical labor in varying weather conditions
• Valid driver’s license preferred

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and operate equipment for extended periods
• Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, and inclement weather
