Postdoctoral Fellow in theoretical and computational modelling of ARPES

The Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland. Your tasks
  • Carry out research on the theory of angle‑resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES)
  • Implement new methods and improve open‑source scientific software in the group
  • Perform first‑principles simulations of ARPES for materials relevant to orbitronics
  • Identify fingerprints of orbital angular momentum
  • Identify promising materials for orbitronics applications
  • Collaborate with experimental groups
  • Support general research and teaching activities
Your profile
  • PhD degree in Physics or a closely related field
  • Strong background in theoretical condensed‑matter physics or related disciplines
  • Basic knowledge of photoemission spectroscopy or related techniques
  • Expertise in first‑principles simulations of materials based on DFT
  • Good programming skills in Fortran and Python
  • Good command of English and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with theoretical and experimental partners
