To support a collaborative project between the HES-SO Valais-Wallis and Debiopharm Research and Manufacturing SA, the Institute of Life Sciences is looking for a Research Associate in Peptide Synthesis and Bioconjugation (100%).
Position DescriptionThe Research Associate will join the Peptide and Protein research group of the HES-SO Valais-Wallis and contribute to projects focused on peptide synthesis and bioconjugation. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and executing peptide synthesis workflows, developing and optimising novel conjugation methodologies, and characterising conjugated biologics (e.g., peptides, antibody fragments, and antibodies) using state-of-the-art analytical techniques (HRMS, UV-Vis, SEC, SDS-PAGE).
The candidate will analyse and interpret experimental data and translate research results into detailed technical reports and peer-reviewed publications. They will also present experimental results to academic and industrial stakeholders. The position requires strong communication skills and close interaction with academic and industrial scientists.
- PhD in biochemistry, protein chemistry, or a related biological science
- Strong hands-on experience in peptide and protein chemistry, including solid-phase peptide synthesis and chemoselective ligation techniques
- Demonstrated expertise in bioconjugation and analytical characterisation of conjugates using HRMS, UV-Vis, and SEC
- Ability to design experiments independently and manage research projects effectively
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and/or French
- Experience with molecular modelling and SPR is an asset
- Contract duration: 32 months
- Employment rate: 100%, including 10% of lab practice supervision in general chemistry
