If this sounds like you and you are driven by purpose, join the SOPHiA GENETICS Research & Development Team as an NGS Lab Technician, and enable us to make a positive impact on the outcomes for cancer and rare disease patients worldwide.

The nature of this role means you can expect to be in the office up to 5 days PW, connected to our Rolle site, so you will need to be in a commutable proximity.

Our mission
We believe there is a smarter, more data‑driven way to make decisions in healthcare and our cloud‑native AI powered SOPHiA DDM Platform makes that vision a reality on a daily basis. You will have direct input to our mission to democratize data‑driven medicine for the ultimate benefit of cancer and rare disease patients across the globe.

Your Mission
Reporting to the Senior Director, Genomic Research you will play a crucial role in supporting our next‑generation sequencing (NGS) activities by performing various laboratory tasks and procedures. This position offers a great opportunity for growth and professional development in the field of genomic research.

Responsibilities
  • Conducting sample preparation for NGS experiments, including DNA and RNA extraction, quantification, and quality control.

  • Operating and maintaining NGS instruments, such as sequencers and sequencer robots.
  • Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and observations.
  • Collaborating with other team members to optimize and troubleshoot experimental protocols.

  • 2–5 years of experience working in a molecular biology laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with NGS library preparation protocols and sequencing technologies is expected.
  • Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment, such as pipettes, centrifuges, and thermal cyclers.

As a public organisation facing ongoing commercial growth, you will bring a success‑oriented and solutions‑focused mindset that embraces team collaborations, change, growth and inclusion.

As an international organisation, English is our primary business language and you will need to bring full fluency in English. As part of your recruitment journey, you should expect to meet English‑only speakers, so for best chances of success, you should include your CV in English. Non‑English CVs have a high likelihood of being rejected at application stage.
