PostDoc in Paleoclimatology; f​/m​/d

You'll work on the SNFS RECON SPHERE project, which investigates inter‑hemispheric temperature inconsistencies evidenced by climate proxies and model simulations over the past millennium. The goal is to reduce uncertainties and improve understanding of late Holocene climate history and climate model projections.

• Analyze state‑of‑the‑art millennial tree‑ring chronologies based on quantitative wood anatomy (QWA) from both hemispheres and publish results in scientific journals.
• Conduct regional temperature reconstructions and compare expressions of the Medieval Climate Anomaly, the Little Ice Age, and the current warm period across northern and southern hemispheres.
• Compare warm‑period divergence fingerprints between the southern and northern hemispheres.
• Potentially include proxy‑model comparison for the past millennium.
• Collaborate with an international team of leading experts in the field.

• PhD degree in climatology, environmental sciences, or an equivalent field.
• Proven track record of excellent analytical and statistical skills in time‑series analysis, preferably using QWA in dendroclimatology.
• Proficiency in programming and handling large datasets.
• Ability to expand and acquire knowledge efficiently in relevant topics.
• Excellent written and spoken English and strong internal and external communication skills.
• Capacity to work in a structured, efficient, and independent manner, with a high level of team spirit.
