Location: Villigen
Trainee for Synthesis and Processing of Inorganic Oxide-based Materials
The Internship is focused on the synthesis and advanced characterization of inorganic oxide-based materials within the Laboratory for Energy Technologies & Innovation. The role is experimental, covering the complete ceramic processing chain and material science.
Responsibilities- Carry out synthesis of inorganic oxide materials using specialized equipment (Flame Spray Pyrolysis FSP reactors).
- Manage the full processing cycle, including wet chemistry, powder processing, and shaping techniques (mixing, drying, pellet pressing) to meet industrial specifications.
- Execute thermal treatments to ensure material stability and phase purity.
- Perform systematic structural and morphological analyses via XRD, SEM, BET and other characterization techniques.
- Document experimental procedures and results with precision.
- Student in Materials Science, Inorganic Chemistry, Ceramic Engineering, or related field, in the final year of undergraduate study (minimum 4 semesters).
- Experience in solid‑state chemistry and inorganic synthesis.
- Basic experience in wet chemistry or ceramic processing; prior pelletizing, shaping or sol‑gel chemistry is advantageous.
- Analytical mindset and familiarity with XRD, SEM, BET.
- Has not yet completed Master’s thesis.
- Proficient in English for documentation and collaboration.
- Duration: 3 to 6 months.
- International research environment with industrial‑scale projects.
- Hands‑on experience and high‑level expertise in materials characterization.
