For our client based in Stein AG, we are currently looking for Research Chemists.
Key Accountabilities- Independently plan, execute, and troubleshoot practical organic chemistry experiments using a broad range of synthetic methodologies.
- Conduct route scouting and reaction optimization with consideration for scalability, efficiency, safety, and process development requirements.
- Purify target compounds using appropriate techniques including flash chromatography, crystallization, distillation, and other standard laboratory methods.
- Independently characterize synthesized compounds and assess purity using analytical techniques such as NMR, HPLC, LC-MS, and related methods.
- Perform, document, and review laboratory risk assessments in accordance with Syngenta health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive experimental records in laboratory notebooks and relevant electronic systems.
- Demonstrate high standards of productivity, scientific rigor, and documentation quality.
- Communicate research findings effectively through written reports, presentations, and regular project updates.
- Contribute proactively to problem-solving, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
- MSc in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry preferred), or
- Completed vocational chemistry training (Laborant/Chemical Laboratory Technician) with proven hands-on experience in synthetic chemistry.
- Demonstrated expertise in multi-step organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and standard purification and characterization techniques.
- Strong practical experience with analytical methods including HPLC and NMR, as well as purification techniques such as crystallization and flash chromatography.
- Solid understanding of organic reaction mechanisms and functional group transformations.
- Strong laboratory skills with a results-oriented approach and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively plan and prioritize activities while working under time-sensitive project timelines.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a commitment to continuously developing technical expertise.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, combined with effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Demonstrated expertise in multi-step organic synthesis, reaction optimization, and standard purification and characterization techniques.
