For use at the Swiss Light Source (SLS) and SwissFEL - two of the most advanced x-ray radiation sources worldwide – the Photon Science Detector Group develops high speed hybrid x-ray pixel detectors with frame rates of several kHz and pixel sizes down to 25 micron.

For the design of charge integrating readout chips we are looking for a

Your tasks
  • Design and develop a family of low-area, low-power Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) for next-generation pixel readout chips used in XFEL and synchrotron applications
  • Contribute to the design, testing, and characterization of both prototype and full-scale readout chips
  • Explore and optimize ADC performance parameters before and after tape-out
  • Develop fast and accurate calibration schemes for ADC systems
  • Collaborate with team members on the integration of ADCs into chip and system architectures
  • Support the advancement of high-performance readout solutions for cutting-edge photon science facilities and experiments
Your profile
  • Master's or PhD degree in Electronics, Physics, or a related field with experience in chip design
  • Experience in analogue integrated circuit (IC) design, ideally for hybrid pixel detectors and Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs)
  • Knowledge of ASIC testing and characterization, including corresponding data analysis and interpretation
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary English-speaking research environment
  • Motivation to contribute new ideas and take initiative in innovative development projects
