The Institute for Biomass and Resource Efficiency at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland FHNW is a leading centre of expertise for sustainable energy systems, resource efficiency and circular economy. It develops innovative solutions for the efficient use of biogenic resources and supports companies in the transformation towards low-emission and resource-conserving technologies. By combining modern measurement technology, experimental research and ecological system modelling, the institute analyses and optimises complex energy and resource flows.

It works closely with industrial partners as well as national and international research institutions. The institute is actively involved in several degree programmes as well as in interdisciplinary research initiatives of the university.

As part of a succession arrangement and for the strategic further development of the institute, we are looking for a proven leader.

Your tasks:

• Overall responsibility for the strategic, personnel, professional and financial management of the institute
• Further development and implementation of the institute's strategy in all areas of performance
• Maintenance and expansion of cooperation with industry and research partners
• Initiation and management of demanding research and innovation projects
• Own teaching and research activities in one of the institute's areas of expertise

Your profile:

• Open and inclusive personality with a university degree and doctorate in a relevant field
• Proven track record in research and industry, with good regional networking
• Entrepreneurial action and experience in leading an expert organisation
• Teaching experience and higher education didactic qualification or willingness to acquire these
• High degree of independence and enjoyment of interdisciplinary and results-oriented working methods
