Topics / Tasks:
Do you like lab as well as field experiments? Are you curious about insects and would love to work with them? Do you have a keen interest in organic farming? If you said yes 3 times this opportunity might be for you!
We have a wide range of projects: we use different strategies to promote functional biodiversity in agroecosystems and monitor the abundance and diversity of beneficial insects to test the efficacy of the measures we implement. We also develop new methodologies to survey insect biodiversity, exploiting computer vision and molecular tools.
You will support us in multiple projects doing lab, greenhouse, and field work, and therefore will be exposed to different methodologies used in insect ecology. You may help us collect data in field trials, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments. This can include sorting and photographing insects as well as preparing samples for DNA extraction.
You will certainly spend a lot of time in the field monitoring beneficial insects in the field using behavior-specific software or performing botanical assessments. Depending on your experience and interest, you may also be involved in data analyses. Having a driver’s license is a must because you will need to travel in CH.
