  • This posting is for the 2025-26 school year only. If you previously applied for a substitute position in the  school year, it will be necessary to reapply using this posting. CURRENT SUBSTITUTES OF THE DISTRICT ARE NOT REQUIRED TO REAPPLY.
  • In order to be considered for this position, the following steps are required:
  • Must have High School Diploma or GED
  • Interview with a member of the Human Resources team
  • Candidates selected through the interview process will then participate in a new hire orientation
  • No applicant may start as a substitute until the hiring and orientation process is complete.

Title:

Substitute Cafeteria Worker

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Has a high school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate
  • Has received or is eligible to receive certification as a school food service employee by the Division of School Food Service
  • Has specialized skills in basic mathematics
  • Is neat and clean in person, and in work habits
  • Has ability to read and follow written directions and recipes
  • Has the ability to lift and move objects weighing at least 50 pounds numerous times per day
  • Has ability to operate equipment used in school cafeteria such as cash register, slicer, grater, mixer, steamer, frying machine, dishwasher, steam cart, ovens, etc.
  • REPORTS TO:

    Manager Cafeteria

    JOB GOAL:
    To serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and warmth

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Be familiar with written guidelines, policies, procedures and directions from supervisor related to job responsibilities
  • Assist in preparation of food
  • Assist in collecting money for meals and beverages sold
  • Move equipment, supplies and furniture as required for area of responsibility
  • Keep his or her work area clean
  • Serve food
  • Assist with dish washing
  • Assist with end of day cleaning and leftover storage
  • Assist in recording daily records
  • Attend in-service training or food service workshops
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor
  • TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

    • Daily assignments are arranged through the Secretary, Teacher, Frontline, or Principal
