Join a Team That Truly Makes a Difference — Become a Certified Nursing Assistant at Northern Illinois Hospice!

If you’re a Certified Nursing Assistant who wants more than a shift‑based routine, Northern Illinois Hospice offers a place where your compassion becomes a calling. As the region’s first hospice (est. 1979), we’ve spent decades setting the standard for exceptional care — and we’re ready to welcome a dedicated CNA who wants to grow, contribute, and be valued every single day.

Why

Northern Illinois Hospice?

Our mission is simple: provide comfort, dignity, and peace of mind. Here, you’ll work with a supportive, close‑knit team that believes in collaboration, trust, and helping each other succeed. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you’ll be part of a community organization that cares deeply for its staff just as much as its patients.

A Day in the Life as a CNA in Hospice Care

Every day brings meaningful moments. You’ll provide hands‑on support that helps patients feel safe, comforted, and cared for. You’ll work closely with an RN, visit patients where they live, support families, and bring calm and connection to those who need it most. This is hospice work with heart, and your role makes all the difference.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide physical and personal care under RN supervision, including bathing, grooming, oral care, and skin/hair care.
  • Perform homemaker services such as meal prep, making beds, light housekeeping, and assisting with feeding.
  • Assist with ambulation, transfers, range‑of‑motion exercises, and positioning.
  • Reinforce dressings as needed and follow all infection‑control and standard precautions.
  • Offer emotional support, compassionate listening, and reassurance to patients and families.
  • Support the primary caregiver through instruction, guidance, and hands‑on help as part of the hospice care team.
Schedule & Pay
  • Full‑time position serving patients in Boone and DeKalb counties.
  • Competitive pay: $18.50–$23.87 per hour, based on experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits: medical plan options, PTO that grows with service, dental/vision, HSA/FSA, company‑paid life & disability insurance, and 401(k) with match.
What You Need
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Illinois State Nursing Assistant Certificate.
  • One year of CNA, nursing home, or home health experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, respond quickly in crisis situations, and provide care with empathy.
  • Understanding and acceptance of diverse cultural, religious, and social backgrounds.
  • Must meet all state/federal CNA training and competency standards.
