* Internal Posting – Sydney Credit Union is currently accepting internal applications for the position of Receptionist to provide exceptional member service and support branch operations across all locations. The successful candidate will be trained as needed and expected to work in receptionist roles at multiple branches.
ReceptionistReporting to the Assistant Branch Managers the Receptionist plays a vital role in supporting operations across all branches of Sydney Credit Union. As the first point of contact, the Receptionist ensures a positive member experience through exceptional service, attention to detail, and collaboration with branch staff.
Key Responsibilities- Operate the switchboard to manage incoming calls, determine caller needs, and direct calls appropriately
- Monitor and respond to voicemail messages promptly, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of member inquiries or requests
- Provide professional and courteous reception services to members and visitors, ensuring a positive first impression
- Respond to member inquiries and proactively promote Credit Union products and services
- Assess member needs and recommend suitable financial solutions, referring complex requests to appropriate staff
- Review and assess online account opening applications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and internal standards
- Support deposit administration by reviewing account reports and maintaining accurate records
- Process wire payments and balance ATM reports for assigned branches
- Provide general administrative support including:
- Preparing correspondence, reports, and memos
- Managing incoming/outgoing mail and courier shipments
- Maintaining filing systems and purging closed accounts
- Sending and routing faxes and transaction records
- Assist in Credit Union promotions, member events, and community engagement activities
- Collaborate with team members providing overrides and support to Member Services Representatives
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Proven ability to cross‑sell financial products and services
- Knowledge of wealth management and financial principles within a regulatory environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Initiative, enthusiasm, and a commitment to supporting member financial success
This is a full‑time temporary unionized position covered under the Collective Agreement between Sydney Credit Union Limited and United Steelworkers, Local 1064. Remuneration will be in accordance with clause 9.01 of that agreement.
As with all positions at Sydney Credit Union, this role could be expected to work in any of our locations.
