The Department of Literature, Folklore, and the Arts in the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Cape Breton University (CBU) invites applications for a tenure-track position in English at the rank of Assistant Professor
. This is a full-time position commencing July 1, 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter).

We are looking for a candidate who can: introduce digital literacies to students in English and across the university; create courses that connect literary approaches to studies of media; and provide additional teaching at the first-year level, and in one area of specialization (Long Eighteenth Century; or American).
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to providing students with an exceptional first-year English experience
. The successful candidate will regularly
teach two courses at the 1000-level, with a standard course loading of 2-3.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate potential and commitment with regard to teaching, research/creative/scholarly activities, and service to Cape Breton University, community and profession. The successful candidate is expected to undertake appropriate service activities within the university community.
