Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education
is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 students in 38schools.

- Nova Scotia Teaching License – Minimum Initial Teacher Certificate (ITC)
- Secondary Bachelor of Education Degree
- High School teaching experience is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and community partners
- Excellent organizational, communication, and coordination skills
- Ability to work independently, demonstrating personal accountability and consistent follow-through
- Ability to work across multiple school sites and engage with diverse school communities (travel required)
- Ability to maintain accurate records and provide required reports
- Proficiency with digital tools (e.g., Google Classroom, my Blueprint, virtual meeting platforms)
The High Skills Major (HSM) Regional Lead supports the implementation, growth, and promotion of HSM programming across the region. The role serves as both an advisor and advocate for students, while collaborating with schools, families, post-secondary institutions, and industry partners to provide meaningful, career-focused learning opportunities.
Working closely with the EECD Career Pathways Division, the Youth Pathways Consultant, and school-based teams, the HSM Regional Lead provides direct support to students and contributes to effective and consistent program delivery across schools.
Key Responsibilities Student Support and Engagement- Provide consistent communication and support to students, primarily through digital platforms (e.g., Google Classroom)
- Schedule and conduct in-person school visits where possible
- Support students in using my Blueprint for pathway planning and portfolio development
- Monitor and track student progress using the HSM checklist
- Support completion of HSM requirements, including portfolios and exit interviews
- Promote and celebrate student engagement and program success
- Collaborate with school-based teams, including administration, counsellors, subject teachers, Co‑operative Education teachers, and Nova Scotia Works School Liaisons
