The nursing practice educator (NPE) is a valued position within the Department of Nursing. NPEs work closely with nursing students taking a leading role in nursing practice education, supervision, and evaluation of nursing students in acute care, long‑term care and/or community agencies, as well as on‑campus nursing laboratory instruction and evaluation.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in Nursing or other health‑related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of nursing practice experience.
- Active practicing RN license with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (or eligibility to obtain one before commencement).
- Completion of pre‑clinical requisites such as immunization, CPR, criminal records check to become eligible to interact in clinical settings.
- Experience teaching, mentoring, and/or preceptoring nursing students is an asset.
- If no applicant possesses a master’s degree in nursing or a health‑related discipline, those currently enrolled in a master’s degree program will be considered.
- Lead nursing practice education, supervision, and evaluation of nursing students in acute care, long‑term care, and/or community agencies.
- Provide on‑campus nursing laboratory instruction and evaluation.
