We provide a wide range of consulting and design services related to the infrastructure, real estate, resource, industrial and government sectors in Canada and abroad. We are currently seeking candidates to fill an existing vacancy for the position of Environmental Scientist within our Contaminant Remediation Group .
At Dillon, we operate as one team. The successful candidate can be based at any one of our following offices: Saint John, Moncton, Halifax, St. John’s, Fredericton and Sydney .
Responsibilities
Manage environmental projects including site assessment and remediation, risk assessment and risk management, and regulatory compliance monitoring
Provide technical and professional leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams including engineers, scientists and technologists
Design remediation programs or risk management measures for impacted soil, groundwater and soil vapour at contaminated sites
Liaise with public and private sector clients, government review and approval agencies, sub‑consultants, and subcontractors
Contribute to the development and coordination of client relationships and business growth
Contribute to client/revenue acquisition and internal team growth to deliver the business
Contribute to business development activities including proposal preparation and presentations
Business travel upon request

Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
Qualifications
A degree in civil or environmental engineering, geology, hydrogeology or environmental science, preferably at the master’s level
Licensed to practice as a professional engineer or geoscientist, or eligible to be licensed within 6 months
Experience with a range of client types preferred (e.g., federal government departments, private industrial clients, municipalities, first nations)
Proven Project Management experience
Minimum of 15 years’ relevant work experience
Valid driver’s license
Experience
Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining excellent client relationships
Proficient in the completion of one or more of: groundwater resource evaluation, protection and management; phased site assessments; solid understanding of contaminant fate and transport in the subsurface and the development of conceptual site model; remedial options analysis and evaluation; remedial action plan development and/or design; preparation of detailed designs, cost estimates and tender packages for remediation projects; design and implementation of compliance monitoring plans
Demonstrated track record of successfully managing environmental projects
Demonstrated track record of successfully mentoring and developing more junior staff
Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, codes and standards
Strong report writing, communication, organization and interpersonal skills
