The salary scale for NSCC Faculty is based on steps that range from $78,771.88 to $. New Faculty may receive up to nine steps ($97,388.02) based on relevant occupational experience and instructional experience.
What you’ll do- Provide theoretical and practical instruction in the Cyber Security program, covering topics such as:
- Network Security
- Security Mechanisms
- Evolving Tech and Threats
- Wireless and Mobile
- Firewall, VPSs, IPS and End Point
- Penetration Testing
- Vulnerabilities and Exploits
- Attack Vectors and Techniques
- Collaboratively design and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners, including preparation, instruction, assessment, and evaluation using LMS (e.g., Brightspace) and classroom technology.
- Ensure health and safety practices and procedures are followed in classroom, shops, and labs.
- Maintain currency with the latest industry practices and continually develop your understanding of 21 st century teaching and learning practices. May involve various delivery modalities (in‑class, online, blended), off‑site instruction and alternate work hours such as weekends and evenings.
- Related duties include but are not limited to academic and career advisement, participating on committees, program marketing, curriculum revision/development, monitoring work placements, liaising with business and industry, representing the College as required, and supporting NSCC policies and procedures.
- Complete the required part‑time adult education program during the probationary period.
- Minimum educational qualification: college diploma or university degree related to Information Technology with a focus on cyber security. Background in social sciences (human behavior) is an asset.
- Industry certifications related to networking and/or security.
- Minimum of five years (full‑time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in information technology, focused on systems management and cyber security.
- Technical knowledge and skills in one or more of the following:
- Security implementations (systems, data, users)
- LAN and WAN environments
- Cloud and virtualized environments
- Networking technologies in both Windows and Linux
- Operating systems, Microsoft Windows and Linux
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including MS Teams), Brightspace or other learning management systems, and People Soft or other ERP systems is an asset.
- Comfortable working in a digital environment, committed to using technology to support an exceptional student experience, including multimedia technologies across online and blended learning.
- Ideally, experience in delivery of educational programs or training to adults.
- Experience providing performance feedback is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience applying WHMIS, occupational health and safety and occupation‑specific safety practices.
- Proficient with multimedia technologies and platforms to engage students in online and blended learning. Prior online/blended teaching experience is preferable; openness to training is required for candidates without experience.
