Job Title: Environmental Services Worker

Responsible To: Director of Environmental Services

Purpose:
To provide a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for residents, staff, and visitors by performing cleaning and sanitization duties throughout the facility in accordance with infection prevention and control protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean assigned areas, including resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, public washrooms, dining areas, and common spaces.

• Disinfect toilets, sinks, showers, chrome fixtures, mirrors, and indoor glass surfaces.

• Wipe down railings, light switches, doors, window sills and frames, baseboards, radiators, and pictures.

• Empty and clean garbage and recycling bins; restock supplies as needed.

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors; dust artificial and live plants.

• Clean soiled furniture or mattresses and report any damages.

• Check and maintain window coverings, ensuring they are clean and properly hung.

• Follow all safety precautions when handling chemicals; ensure carts are properly stocked, labelled, cleaned, and securely stored when not in use.

• Clean housekeeping equipment daily and report any malfunctions.

• Adhere to noise level guidelines, smoking policies, and confidentiality standards.

• Participate in assigned training sessions related to WHMIS, health and safety, and infection control.

• Perform other related duties as required for the efficient operation of the facility.

Equipment Used:
Floor Machines, Vacuum Cleaners, Wet and Dry Mops, Housekeeping Carts, Buckets and Wringers, Upholstery Cleaners, Institutional Cleaners and Chemicals

Working Conditions:
Work is performed throughout the facility and requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required

• Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions

• Good physical health and ability to perform physical tasks

• Previous cleaning experience preferred

• Professional appearance and ability to interact respectfully with residents, staff, and visitors

Working Hours:
Subject to rotation and change, including holidays and weekends
