Position: Security Officer-SYD (PT)
Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Security, this position is responsible for the safety and protection of employees, guests, the facility and company assets at the site level. Ensures adherence to all general orders, policies and procedures while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees.
Above all else, must embrace and be aligned with Casino Nova Scotia’s culture and philosophy of providing outstanding entertainment experiences.
Key Accountabilities:
Greets guests and controls access to casinoMonitors, documents and reports internal and external violations, unsafe conditions, potential hazards, suspicious persons and activities; prepares electronic statements via a non-gaming record keeping systemEnforces restricted access by unauthorized personsObserves cashier transactions, slot drops, chip/hopper fills and transfers; escorts cash and cash equivalent movements; may assist in fills, credits, drops and key controlTags and reports found property; transfers items to Lost and FoundConducts regular patrols of the facility interior and exterior as directedEscorts guests and employees as directedPerforms identification checks as requiredRefers disputes to the Security Shift ManagerPerforms crowd control as directedResponds to emergency situations as requested; takes steps to rectify problems while minimizing casino liabilityMay perform electronic surveillance of non-gaming facilities, including exterior and adjacent properties at some locationsMay enroll guests in the Self-Exclusion Program at some locationsCommunicates effectively with all appropriate operational departmentsFollows GEM customer service standards, connecting with internal and external guests to deliver an exceptional experience to internal and external guests every dayDevelops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, ownership, employees, vendors and regulatorsEnsures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulationsPerforms other duties as assigned or directedEducation and Qualification Requirements:
Embraces the Casino Nova Scotia culture and philosophy and has a playful, infectious and "all about the guest" attitude!High School DiplomaServing It Right, Smart Serve or IGB certificationMust be willing to recertify for Use of Force every 3 yearsOccupational First Aid Level 2 an assetCan understand, speak and write English; fluency in other languages an assetPrevious security experience an assetWork Environment Considerations:
Regular casino environment, standing and walking for long periods of time, some elements of danger, some exposure to the elements, some exposure to noise, some exposure to verbal or physical abuse, non-traditional work hours
