Engineroom Assistant at Marine Atlantic

Location: North Sydney

Marine Atlantic is hiring a Certified Engine room Assistant for our vessels in Port aux Basques, NL and North Sydney, NS. Join a dedicated team while contributing to vessel maintenance and safety measures.

This full-time position offers a chance to work on various vessels year-round and includes seasonal operations in Argentia, NL. Candidates should have a relevant 4th Class Motorship or Engine Room Rating alongside valid STCW certifications, and a minimum of three years of experience in similar roles. Safe working practices and equipment maintenance are critical components of this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain cleanliness of engine rooms and equipment

• Monitor and safely manage fuel and oil discharges

• Conduct watch-keeping as directed

• Assist with routine and emergency maintenance

• Ensure a safe environment for all crew

Requirements:

• 4th Class Motorship or Engine Room Rating

• STCW 6.1 and 6.2 valid certificates

• Marine Medical Examination by Transport Canada

• Minimum of 3 years with relevant experience

• Capable of handling heavy objects and working in tight spaces
